MILLENARY DENIED BY STEWARDS
Article from the front page of the EBN - 22nd
May
2000 St Leger hero Millenary was first past the
post in yesterday's Gr.2 Prix Jean de Chaudenay at Saint-Cloud but
was disqualified and placed second behind Loxias
after a stewards' enquiry. The pair had been locked togther
in a thrilling battle in the final two furlongs and only a nose
separated them at the line. Millenary had
hung right and leant on his rival in the closing stages despite the
best attemps of jockey Pat Eddery to keep his mount straight.
RAINBOW QUEST, the sire of Millenary, is also
the grandsire of Loxias, a son of Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero
Saumarex.
Millenary may next appear in the Harwicke
Stakes.
