OASIS DREAM FEE SET
Last year’s champion two-year-old Oasis Dream is to start his
stallion career at Banstead Manor Stud at a fee of £25,000, special
live foal.
Oasis Dream’s fee reflects both his pedigree and his outstanding
performances, which featured a record-breaking victory in the Gr.1
Middle Park Stakes. The speed which helped him become the first
horse ever to break the 1 minute 10 seconds barrier over six
furlongs on the Rowley Mile has again established him as a champion
at three. He dipped below that mark once more when he cut down the
exceptionally fast Choisir to take the Gr.1 July Cup and then
narrowly missed the track record for five furlongs at York, where
he won the Gr.1 Nunthorpe Stakes easing up.
His sire Green Desert, who will command a fee of £85,000 in
2004, is also the sire of Cape Cross, this year’s leading
first-crop sire in Britain and Ireland, and of Desert Prince,
runner-up for that honour in 2002.
Oasis Dream’s family is one of the most successful in the
Juddmonte stud book. A half-brother to the French 1000 Guineas
winner Zenda, he is out of a sister to the Irish Oaks winner Wemyss
Bight, who is represented on the Banstead stallion roster by the
four-time Gr.1 winner Beat Hollow.
