RAINBOW MARVELS

The 5th of June was another red letter day for Rainbow Quest as a broodmare sire with Gr.1 winners on both sides of the Atlantic.

North Light’s impressive 1½ length win the Derby Stakes Gr.1, at Epsom was Rainbow Quest’s second successive Derby victory as a broodmare sire.  North Light had already produced a very taking display in his Derby Trial when beating Rule Of Law in the Dante Stakes, York Gr.2 on the 12th May on his seasonal debut.

Rainbow Quest has a very impressive record at Epsom, over the Derby distance, both as a sire and a broodmare sire:

Sire of:

QUEST FOR FAME  Won Derby Stakes Gr.1
Blue Judge   2nd Derby Stakes Gr.1
Knight’s Baroness  3rd Oaks Stakes Gr.1
SUNSHACK   Won Coronation Cup Gr.1
De Quest   3rd Coronation Cup Gr.1
Millenary   3rd Coronation Cup Gr.1

Broodmare sire of:

NORTH LIGHT  Won Derby Stakes Gr.1 in 2004
KRIS KIN   Won Derby Stakes Gr.1 in 2003

Rainbow Quest is also the broodmare sire of another Derby winner RAKTI who won the Derby Italiano Gr.1 in 2002.

The day was completed when METEOR STORM (Bigstone ex Hunt The Sun by Rainbow Quest) established himself as one of the current leading turf horses in America by taking the Manhattan Handicap Gr.1 over 10 furlong at Belmont Park by 1½ lengths.  The Juddmonte bred Meteor Storm has already completed back-to-back victories in the San Luis Rey Handicap Gr.2 on 20th March and the San Juan Capistrano Handicap Gr.2 on the 18th April.

ALSO, Day Flight (01 c Sadler's Wells ex Bonash by Rainbow Quest) finished 4th in the Prix du Jockey-Club Gr.1 at Chantilly on Sunday beaten just over 1¼ lengths on only his third career start.  Day Flight who was unraced at 2 years, won his Maiden on 2nd May and the Glasgow Stakes L., at York on the 13th May.
