ORMONDE STAKES WINNER FOR RAINBOW QUEST
Systematic showed he was back to his best form when winning the
Ormonde S Gr.3 at Chester on Friday 8th May, staying on gamely to
win by 1 ¾ lengths from The Whistling Teal. This win followed
a second to Gamut in the Jockey Club S Gr.2 at Newmarket on the
previous Sunday and he is now being aimed at the Gr.1 Coronation
Cup (at Epsom 4th June) or the Gr.2 Hardwicke S (at Royal Ascot
19th June).
At 3 years, Systematic won the Gr.3 Cumberland Lodge S. at Ascot
and the Listed Troy S. at Doncaster. Unfortunately, he
succumbed to injury at the start of 2003 but managed second to
Mubtaker in the Geoffrey Freer S. Gr.2 at Newbury in
August.
Systematic’s success completed a fine week for his sire Rainbow
Quest, as it followed closely on the heels of Jade Quest’s victory
in the Vintage Crop S L., at Navan on the 2nd May and the victories
of Without Connexion and Silence of Winds in France. Jade
Quest was Rainbow Quest’s 133rd individual blacktype performer and
87th individual Group/Stakes winner of his stallion
career.
