RAINBOW QUEST'S POT OF GOLD
Rainbow Quest’s son MILLENARY,
who had already won the St leger Gr.1 in 2000 and five other Group
races, increased his earning by a further £81,000 with an emphatic
win in the Yorkshire Cup Gr.2 yesterday. His jockey Richard
Quinn stated “It’s like driving a good car upsides a bad one – when
you touch the pedal you go. He’s got speed and he stays”.
Millenary may now tackle the Gr.1 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot.
The next race the Glasgow Stakes L. saw Rainbow
Quest in action as a broodmare sire. The Juddmonte
homebred DAY FLIGHT won this Derby Trial by some
20 lengths. The Racing Post quoted “Day Flight first the rest
nowhere”, the European Bloodstock News “a stunning performance” and
the TDN “Day Flight emerged as another Derby contender with a
scintillating performance in this trial”. However, Day
Flight, who would need to be supplemented for the Derby, may go to
the King Edward VII S Gr.2 at Royal Ascot. Day Flight’s dam
BONASH won 4 races in France including the Prix de
Malleret Gr.2 and is half-sister to the dam of NEBRASKA
TORNADO and BURNING SUN.
Rainbow Quest was also broodmare sire of NORTH
LIGHT winner of the Dante S Gr.2 on Wednesday. This
was only North Light’s third race and he put up a thoroughly
creditable performance to beat the more experienced Rule of Law by
half a length. His dam SOUGHT OUT winner of
the Prix du Cadran Gr.1 in 1992 is also the dam of
RESEARCHED, winner of the Glorious Rated S L., and
Cover Up, 2nd Lonsdale S Gr.3
(twice).
