RAINBOW QUEST DOES IT AGAIN
Rakti powered home to a two lengths victory in the Prince of
Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot yesterday to give RAINBOW QUEST his
5th Gr.1 broodmare sire success in 2004. Not satisfied with
that the second home Powerscourt, who has won the Tattersalls Gold
Cup Gr.1 on his previous start, was also out of a Rainbow Quest
mare.
Rakti who won the Italian Derby Gr.1 at three, the Premio
Presidente della Republica Gr.1 and Champion Stakes Gr.1 last year
may now go for the Eclipse Stakes which could also be the target
for Powerscourt.
The Hong Kong Cup, in which he was second last year, looks a
likely target for Rakti later in the year but with so many options
open before that he will certainly give his trainer, Michael
Jarvis, and owner, Gary Tanaka, an exciting
year.
