MUM'S OFF TO SEE THE QUEEN AFTER DEBUT WIN
Richard Hannon introduced a two-year-old with Royal Ascot potential when Don’t Tell Mum landed the five-furlong maiden fillies’ stakes under a peach of a ride from Richard Hughes on her racecourse debut.
The daughter of DANSILI ran green in the early stages, but showed her class to quicken up impressively and take the lead from half-way, staying on gamely to score by a head from Roodeye. The time of 1m 0.83s underlined her excellent effort as it was 1.07 seconds quicker than standard.
Asked about a possible tilt at the Queen Mary, Hannon said: ‘We’ll have to talk about that, but I think it was a good race. They went lickety-split from the start and it was a good time.’
Bred by Pier House Stud in Ireland, Don’t Tell Mum is out of the Zilzal mare, Zinnia and sold for €20,000 at the Goffs Orby sale, knocked down to Peter Doyle. Now owned by John and Teresa Moriarty, Don’t Tell Mum looks sure to give connections an exciting and prosperous season ahead.
