SIX FIGURES FOR RAINBOW QUEST FILLY
A bid of €110,000 from BBA Ireland’s John
Tyrell proved good enough to secure Top Forty, an unraced daughter
of Rainbow Quest, and thus the top lot on the second day of the
Goffs February Sale, writes Ryan McElligott. Bidding for the
Athassel House Stud offering rose quickly but ultimately it was
Tyrell who secured the fouryear- old, who was bought for 16,500gns
at Newmarket last December.
“She will probably be for a partnership. Rainbow Quest is a very
good broodmare sire as are Dancing Brave and Le Levanstell. It’s a
solid Abdullah family and she was a standout in this sale,”
commented Tyrell.
Lot 571 is a half-sister to the classy dual purpose performer Self
Defense (Warning) and they are out of the Dancing Brave mare
Dansara. She is a half-sister to the Gr.1 Irish Oaks heroine
Princess Pati (Top Ville; dam of Gr.2-placed Parthian Springs) and
the Gr.2 Great Voltiguer Stakes scorer Seymour Hicks (sire), while
their dam is the top notch Irish 1,000 Guineas and Gr.1 Yorkshire
Oaks victrix Sarah Siddons (Le Levanstell).
