FERGUSON FIGHTS OFF EGERTON FOR TOP LOT
FOR a third successive day, Sheikh Mohammed's agent John
Ferguson topped the trading at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale
when going to 550,000gns to get a first-crop son of
OASIS DREAM from the
family of Last Tycoon. Agent Tony Nerses, standing with owner Saleh
Al Homaizi and trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam, made a bold play for the
Kilfrush Stud homebred, but it was trainer Charles Egerton who
fought out the final exchanges with Ferguson.
"He's one of the most athletic horses in the sale and from one of
the best families in the book," said Ferguson. "And Kilfrush Stud
has an outstanding record as a nursery for top horses over the
years."
Ferguson had earlier gone to 320,000gns to purchase a son of
Pivotal out of Pure Spin, a daughter of Pure Grain who had been
bought for 140,000gns carrying the
colt.
