THOMAS HITS CAREER HIGH WITH SUCCESS ON RIPPLES
MAID
RICHARD THOMAS, 27, gained the biggest win of his career when
partnering Ripples Maid to take the Listed sprint for fillies and
mares.
The three-year-old, who is trained by Jonathan Geake, had the
advantage of a low draw, and after travelling strongly on the heels
of the leaders, she was switched towards the centre of the track in
the straight and quickened up in good style to beat the running-on
Portmeirion by a length and a half.
"She deserved that as she's a progressive filly," said the winning
rider, who was partnering his 19th winner of the season and his
first ever at Chester.
"The only worry I had was coming into the straight as I wasn't sure
whether to go inside or out, but she picked up well. She's a good
filly."
