YOUNG SIRES LEAD TIMEFORM TABLE
There have been some changes to the Timeform
Top-Rated Two-Year-Olds Table (see page nine) since it was last
published in EBN.
However, one thing that has not changed is the name of the leader –
Sir Robert Ogden’s impressive dual Group winner Sander Camillo
(Dixie Union). She is now rated just 1lb ahead of the recent Gr.2
Vintage Stakes winner Strategic Prince, one of two sons of
Juddmonte’s Dansili
in the top 12. The only other stallion doubly represented is his
own sire, the now deceased Danehill.
The success of Boccassini (Artan) in the Gr.2 Prix Robert Papin has
raised the rating of her Gr.3 Prix du Bois conqueror Sandwaki
(Dixieland Band) to 109p, while the Vintage Stakes runner-up Duke
of Marmelade (Danehill) shares fourth place with Dutch Art
(Medicean).
One notable feature of the current table is the preponderance of
young sires. Of the nine juveniles by
living sires, two are by veterans – the now 26-year-old Dixieland
Band and 21-year-old Cadeaux Genereux – while the remainder are by
mere youngsters. Ishiguru is the only first crop sire on the list,
thanks to his son Hellvelyn, while Medicean and Galileo are second
crop sires, the oldest crops by both Dixie Union and
Dansili are four, and
Intikhab’s are five.
