GOSDEN STRIKES AS QUENCHED ARRIVES IN NICK OF TIME
Quenched (DANSILI) maintained John Gosden’s
fine record in the Listed Aphrodite Stakes when giving the
Clarehaven trainer his fourth success in the VCBet-sponsored event
in the past 11 years.
Gosden had take the 1m 4f race with Anno Luce (1997), Marani
(2002) and Treble Heights (2003), and appears to have another
progressive filly on his hands.
The
4-1 chance was held up by Robert Havlin off the pace set by Cresta
Gold, and had to wait for a gap as she raced on the stand’s rail in
the last two furlongs. But when the market leader Pictavia edged
left in the final furlong, Havlin was quick to seize the
opportunity and drove Quenched through to land the spoils by half a
length from the long-time leader.
Gosden said “She didn’t have the best of runs in the
Ribblesdale and I’m pleased to make her a Listed winner. She’s
improving and maybe a race like the Park Hill Gr.2 would be on the
agenda.”
