OASIS TOP LOT SECURED BY GOLD FOR HAMDAM
WITH the best two days still to come, Thursday’s third session
of Tattersalls’ December Foal Sale witnessed an astonishing trade
as the pinhookers extended their spending further than ever
before.
But although the traders tried hard to get the day’s dearest
foal, an Oasis Dream filly consigned from Trickledown Stud, she
will be one of Hamdan Al Maktoum’s 2008 juvenile team after making
260,000gns.
Bobby Donworth of Round Hill Stud made a serious play for the
filly, bred by Chris Mills out of his Cork Group 3 winner Miss
Anabaa, but it was Croom House Stud’s Paul McCartan who came
closest to beating Sheikh Hamdan’s racing manager Angus Gold.
“She was a lovely quality filly by a good stallion and from a
fast family,” said Gold. “She’ll go to Derrinstown to join our
home-breds there.”
But Sheikh Hamdan’s racing manager had to give second best early
in the day when trying for a Dansili colt from the Juddmonte family
of Trade Fair offered in Jamie Railton’s draft. Richard Brown of
Blandford Bloodstock, acting for a new client, defeated Gold for
the colt at 240,000gns.
“He’s been bought for someone specifically wanting to buy a colt
foal to race,” explained Brown. “He’ll probably be trained in
England but we’ve got plenty of time to decide. It’s a good
pedigree and I’m great fan of the sire, who goes from strength to
strength.”
ItWunders Dream’s first foal, an Oasis Dream colt offered
through Trickledown Stud, sold to Blandford Bloodstock for
115,000gns.
