SILVER TOUCH KEEPS CRITERION IN THE FAMILY

Silver Touch delivered a career-best performance when rattling
home to floor 11-10 favourite Major Cadeaux in the Group 3
Criterion Stakes.
The Mick Channon-trained filly made no impression when eighth in
a Curragh Group 3 over 6f on her seasonal return, but the extra
furlong and underfoot ease meant she was a different proposition.
Having been held up by Tadgh O'Shea, the four-year-old powered up
the rising ground to pass the Greenham winner and hit the front as
the post loomed.
Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owner Jaber Abdullah, said of
the winner: 'She is versatile but seven furlongs suited her and she
had the soft ground she needs. She is a powerful filly and there is
improvement to come.'

Silver Touch maintained the family tradition with victory in the
Gr.3 Criterion Stakes at Newmarket. Her dam is a half-sister to
Vortex (Danehill), who won this race in 2005, while another
half-sister is the dam of Trade Fair (Zafonic), who scored in 2003.
This was the first win at this level for the daughter of
DANSILI, who won the Listed Sceptre
Stakes last year. The Mick Channon-trained Silver Touch was bred
by Kildaragh Stud and is owned by Jaber Abdulla. She was bought
for e60,000 at the Agence Francaise Deauville August Yearling
Sale by Charles Gordon-Watson.
