SUN HEADS GRAND PRIX LIST
Taken from the TDN
Khalid Abdullah’s Zambezi Sun (GB) (DANSILI {GB})
was yesterday confirmed on course for Saturday’s G1 Juddmonte
Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp, for which 23 remained at
yesterday’s forfeit stage.
The owner-breeder’s Racing Manager Teddy Grimthorpe is hoping
that the G1 Prix du Jockey-Club fourth can emulate the success of
the sponsor's Rail Link (GB) 12 months ago. ‘He is a definite
runner and this has always been the target,’ he told Racing Post.
‘He has done well since the Jockey-Club and [trainer] Pascal [Bary]
has been pleased with his work. He will be suited by the longer
distance and let’s hope he can emulate DANSILI’s
other son who took this last year.’
Amongst his likely opponents is Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al
Maktoum’s recent acquisition Airmail Special (Ire) (Peintre
Celebre), who took the G3 Prix du Lys over course and distance June
19. He is one of four colts left in by Andre Fabre, including the
same owner’s Listed Derby du Midi and Listed Derby du Languedoc
scorer Friston Forest (Ire) (Barathea {Ire}). Aidan O’Brien has
also left in a quartet headed by Derrick Smith, Susan Magnier and
Michael Tabor’s G1 Epsom Derby runner-up and G1 Irish Derby third
Eagle Mountain (GB) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}), while John Gosden
may send over George Strawbridge’s Epsom fourth and G2 King Edward
VII S. second Lucarno (Dynaformer).
