THE STAR OF EARLY TRADING

Tattersalls' October Yearling Sale resumed in Newmarket on
Tuesday with a vibrant opening day to part two – a 300,000gns
daughter of Oasis Dream selling early on to land a bumper pinhook
profit for vendor Ger Hourigan.
The filly – whose price tag equalled the October part two record
– had cost Hourigan, who is based at Whitehall Stud near Clonmel,
72,000gns last year and her value rose rapidly after a rare
Maktoum-Coolmore duel.
David Wachman, standing in the gateway with his father-in-law
John Magnier, and Paul Shanahan, secured the filly after eventually
outbidding the day's most prolific buyer Angus Gold, accompanied to
the sale by his employer Hamdan Al Maktoum.
Hourigan, who is selling around 20 yearlings this year, was
delighted with the result.
“She was always just a very nice filly and makes up for the ones
that go missing,” he said.
