DANSILI’S NAME TO REMEMBER
Article taken from the EBN
There were two Guineas trials at Leopardstown yesterday and both went to runners trained by Dermot Weld. The Gr.3 2,000 Guineas Trial could not have been won any more impressively by Famous Name, who eased home four lengths clear of Kevin Prendergast’s Moiqen (Red Ransom). The Irish 2,000 Guineas is the most likely target for Juddmonte’s homebred son of DANSILI, with the Poule d’Essai des Poulains and Derby Italiano also both under consideration.
His stablemate, Carribean Sunset (Danehill Dancer) had earlier squeaked home in the Gr.3 1,000 Guineas Trial Stakes, losing her maiden tag in the process. She held off Aidan O’Brien’s Halfway To Heaven (Pivotal) by a head, but the other Ballydoyle runner, favourite Psalm (Sadler’s Wells), lost her chance when her saddle slipped during the early stages. Last season’s Gr.1 Phoenix Stakes and Gr.1 Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine Saoirse Abu (Mr Greeley) finished third under a 3lb penalty.
The winner is likely to head for the Irish 1,000 Guineas.
