HIGH HOPES FOR HAGGAS JUVENILES

William Haggas played host to the press on Warren Hill yesterday morning, when many of his stable stars were on show, including Lincoln hopefuls Very Wise and Heaven Knows, writes David Milnes. As well as their claims in the season’s first big handicap, Haggas has hopes that his Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned three-year old colt Alfathaa (Nayef – Arctic Char) will have a good season.
One of 27 horses the Somerville Lodge handler has for Hamdan Al Maktoum is Gassal (filly, OASIS DREAM – Hasten), who is a very early January foal. A third foal, she is related to winners and was sold to connections for 62,000gns as a foal at Tattersalls in December 2006.
One to note by the same sire for later on is Dream Date (filly, OASIS DREAM – Femme Fatale), whose dam was a speedy juvenile and won the Listed Firth of Clyde Stakes. A half sister to a winner, Dream Date was sold to Con Wilson for 90,000gns at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
