GR.2 VICTORY FOR ELYSEES
Article taken from the TDN
Juddmonte homebred Champs Elysees (Danehill) followed up his
excellent US debut, when second at the highest level, with an easy
win in Saturday’s Gr.2 San Marcos Stakes at Santa Anita.
The younger full-brother to DANSILI Banks
Hill, Intercontinental and CACIQUE was
held up at the rear of the small field before swinging wide into
the home straight and scoring by a length and a quarter from Rocket
Legs (Dynaformer), with the good yardstick Obrigado (Enrique) back
in third.
Now trained by Bobby Frankel, the five-year-old will continue to
chase his first Gr.1 victory this term, although no firm targets
have been mapped out for him. He was initiating a notable double
for daughters of Kahyasi – the dual Derby winner’s daughter Razana
is the dam of Sunday’s Hong Kong Classic Mile winner Salford Mill,
now known as Helene Mascot.
