Passage of Time, Henry Cecil's classy filly, is being prepared to open her four-year old campaign in the Gr.3 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket on 3rd May, writes. The daughter of Dansili, who faces a drop back from middle-distances to just nine furlongs at HQ, could be the jewel in the crown of a strong roster of senior performers at Warren Place for 2008. A Gr.1 winner in France as a juvenile, Passage of Time showed she goes well fresh when landing the Gr.3 Musidora Stakes at York last May. Sent off favourite for the Oaks on the strength of that, Khalid Abdulla’s filly could finish only eighth behind her stablemate Light
Shift on the Downs.
Given a break after that, Passage of Time returned to finish a close third to Mrs Lindsay in the Gr.1 Prix Vermeille at Longchamp in September, before filling the same placing in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf at Monmouth Park the following month. Cecil said: “Passage of Time is coming along well considering the weather we are having and the plan is to start her off at Newmarket on 2,000 Guineas day in the Dahlia Stakes where she avoids a penalty.”
