GUINEAS HEROINE SPECIOSA FOALS HER FIRST

Article taken from the EBN

Speciosa, who triumphed in the 1,000 Guineas in 2006 for trainer Pam Sly, gave birth to her first foal, a bay colt by OASIS DREAM, on Monday.

The daughter of Danehill Dancer is boarding at Northmore Stud in Exning, near Newmarket, who have reported that, “He is a good strong colt with plenty of quality.”

Speciosa, who returns to Juddmonte’s OASIS DREAM (Green Desert) this year, won the Gr.2 Rockfel Stakes at two, returning at three to capture the Gr.3 Nell Gwyn Stakes en route to her Classic success. She also finished fourth in the Oaks and was runner-up to Peeping Fawn (Danehill) in the Gr.1 Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh.

She is a half-sister to the Gr.3 winner Major Rhythm (Rhythm), out of Specifically (Alleged), a winning halfsister to the multiple Gr.1 heroine Pride (Peintre Celebre), who recently gave birth to a DANSILI (Danehill) colt and visits Speciosa’s sire Danehill Dancer this year.
The grandam, Specificity (Alleged), won the Listed George Stubbs Stakes and is a half-sister to the dual St Leger winner and sire Touching Wood (Roberto). Their dam, Mandera (Vaguely Noble), won the Gr.3 (then) Princess Royal Stakes.
