INTERNATIONAL GROUP DOUBLE FOR OASIS DREAM

Article taken from the EBN

Arcano swept to favouritism for next year’s 2,000 Guineas, when winning the Gr.1 Prix Morny at Deauville yesterday in record time and taking his unbeaten run to three. The son of sire of the moment OASIS DREAM challenged the long time leader Special Duty (Hennessy) in the closing stages and just got up in the last strides. Former Guineas favourite Canford Cliffs (Tagula), who won the Gr.2 Coventry Stakes impressively, was a disappointing third.

Arcano, who was acquired by Hamdan Al Maktoum, following his victory in the Gr.2 July Stakes, is likely to have one more run this season and will be stepped up to seven furlongs for the Gr.1 Dewhurst Stakes.

A 90,000gns Tattersalls October Yearling Book One graduate, he was bought by leading Newmarket bloodstock agents McKeever St Lawrence, for whom he won their 150th Listed or Group race. He is the first foal of his dam Tariysha (Daylami) and is also a close relative of Big Audio (Oratorio), who won the Listed Stonehenge Stakes on Friday to add to his win in the Listed Chesham Stakes.

Not content with one Group winner yesterday, OASIS DREAM subsequently had a second, when the British raider Lady Jane Digby, trained by Mark Johnston, won the Gr.3 Walther J Jacobs Stuten-Preis at Bremen. Kirsten Rausing’s homebred just got home in a close finish to deny Georg Baron von Ullmann’s homebred Guantana (Dynaformer) to become her sire’s ninth Group winner in seven weeks.

This was her first win at Group level, though she won the Listed Hoppings Stakes at Newcastle in June. She is a half-sister to the triple Gr.3 winner Gateman (Owington) out of Gr.1 winner and sire Polish Patriot’s half-sister Scandalette (Niniski).
